Kajetán Vogl
Missa in G Nokki spurious 4 [Weinmann XIX:G7]
Wanhal ?
Nokki spurious 4
Weinmann XIX:G7
Weiss1977 1a.12
Attribution: Spurious Attribution (Most Likely by Kajetán Vogl)
This work survives in two copies attriuted to Wanhal, but in nine attributed to Kajetán Vogl and one to Karel Loos. Like Nokki spurious 1, one here finds a tendency towards imperfect cadences at important structural points - the composer most likely saw a high soprano part as having a stronger conclusive function than an ending on the root note in itself did. This is strongly at odds with Wanhal and the Viennese style of cadencing, and strongly speaks in favour of Vogl's authorship. The misattribution to Wanhal may have arisen owing to the similarity the opening of the Kyrie shares with the widely distributed Nokki 11.
