Johann Baptist Wanhal

Missa in D Nokki 28

Wanhal ?
Nokki 28
Weinmann deest.

Autenticity: Dubious Authenticity

This work survives in only one source. On stylistic grounds it incorporates a number of traits that are not found in other masses by Wanhal, such as a fugue after a tripartite Kyrie, a slow introduction to the Gloria and a separate Qui sedes movement. It is nevertheless not possible to write it off entirely as an experiment, as such traits are found in the works of other Viennese composers at the time. It is therefore, with some doubt, included in the main list.
